“No” is a complete sentence.

Okay, fellow people pleasers and recovering people pleasers— show of hands if you’ve ever said no but felt like you needed a reason or excuse to back it up? 🙋‍♂️

Has the stress of what to say been more overwhelming than the “no” itself? Somewhere along the way, we get the message that our “no” isn’t valid without a reason or someone else’s approval. But here’s the truth: You don’t owe anyone an explanation! 💥

We think being polite means softening things for others when we set a boundary. But declining an invitation is setting a boundary! It’s saying: “I can’t” or “I don’t want to do this thing you’re asking.” So how do we say “no” effectively?

🔑 Be direct: A clear “no” without beating around the bush. Otherwise, it might sound like a “maybe.”

😌 Stay calm and confident: Even if you’re nervous inside, try not to laugh or smile to soften your response. This can send mixed messages.

💪 Practice small ‘nos’ first: Start with people who support your journey away from people pleasing, then gradually widen your circle.
